Parents and Guardians,
Our girls volleyball and 27J football seasons are starting soon. Both are offered to only 7th-8th graders currently enrolled at Discovery. Practices for both begin Thursday, August 21st.
Discovery Volleyball team practices are held at Discovery, and games will be at Discovery and other participating 27J middle schools. More info below.
Discovery DOES NOT have a separate football team due to our enrollment numbers in 7th and 8th grade, and the numbers needed to properly and safely field a complete football team. See more info below.
All student athletes will need to have a current sports physical on record with the school. Sports physicals are valid for one calendar year and must be current for the duration of the season in order for the athlete to participate in any practices or games. Where to get a Sports Physical

All student athletes will be required to remain eligible throughout the duration of each sports season. Discovery Magnet’s eligibility requirements can be found here:

Practices and/or games for all sports are every Tuesday-Friday
Schedules are not finalized yet, but games will start the first week of September- Volleyball games will be Tuesday, September 2nd and Thursday, September 4th. Locations are TBD as we are adjusting the season format for all sports this year.

We will be having a volleyball informational meeting with the coaches and Athletics Director on Wednesday, August 27th at 5:30pm in the Discovery library following the practice.
Football- If you are interested in playing football in the 27J middle school league and live within district boundaries, you will need to sign up and register with your boundary school (Quist, Vikan, Overland Trail, Stuart, Prairie View). If you live out of district boundaries, you will need to check options within the district in which you live.
Please complete registration forms as soon as possible. Athletics fees per student, per sport are $150 and will be added to student fees in Infinite Campus after registration is complete. Students with an approved district fee waiver form will still have a fee of $25.
Be sure to join the Discovery Volleyball group in the “Band” app at registration (link in form).
