Kindergarteners drew pictures of people doing winter activities. After sharing we crumpled our drawings and had our own snowball fight. All FUN without the cold! We also dressed our dolls for fall and winter. Presenters used sentence stems, “My doll is wearing” “It is dressed for". The listeners gave compliments.
1st grade (Massey’s Class here) are showing ownership, growth, and pride. Students are building strong writing skills by using a rubric to self-assess.

3rd graders created final products on the animal of their choice. Students analyzed and interpreted data, learning that animals have traits inherited from parents. Students explain that their traits can affect their survival in their environment.

6th graders have been investigating driving questions through hands-on design, data analysis, and real-world problem solving. Students celebrated their learning with presentations of their final roller coaster models and explanations to families and peers, showcasing how science concepts like kinetic and potential energy, forces, and safety engineering come together.
This year, 7th grader SCI dissected fish instead of frogs. They explored and compared fish anatomy to human body systems, noting similarities and differences. The fish were slightly smaller than the rats, but still had the same wonderful smell.
In McLaughlin’s 8th Science, students investigated six different exothermic and endothermic reactions as they explored how energy transfers during chemical reactions.
In K-2 we have been learning about an Artist named Judith Scott. She was deaf and she was born with down syndrome. When her twin sister took her out of an institution. She started attending an art studio for artists with disabilities. When she discovered fiber arts, she was hooked. She became a world renowned artist before she passed away of heart failure. They considered her creations 'cocoons.' Students created their own cocoons with fibers and found objects. We used our imaginations to decide what emerged from their cocoons. We drew our critters and painted them with water color.
We have been testing possible new robots called Kaibots! Mrs. Marlan has been giving feedback to the company with the student’s help in exchange for a 3 month trial and a discount if we purchase them!
